Joseph Darmanin

Darmanin Farriery
Joseph Darmanin (k/a Guzeppi) was born in 1907, he was always involved with horses, during and post World War II he was deployed as a groom and horse trainer with the British services stationed at Saint Andrew’s. Later Joseph was into the traditional horse drawn cabs ‘Karozzin’, which are still seen in Malta. In 1948 Joseph assisted his cousin Victor to start off the Darmanin Riding Establishment at Marsa. Joseph was also into horse clipping and a renowned horse handler. Later he started horse shoeing, which kicked start the Darmanin Farriery business. What Joseph started then took off and flourished into the family business, where for generations the trade of farriery was kept developing.
